Creative Brief Template
v2.3
Purpose. Designers and producers use this template to capture and confirm a client brief so that concept, artwork and delivery can be measured against what was agreed.
1.Purpose of the brief
The creative brief is the agreement between Studio Aurora and the client about what will be made, for whom, why and by when. It is completed with the client, confirmed in writing and attached to the job on the Project and Job Board before work starts. Every later decision is tested against it.
2.Background and objective
Record who the client is, what they do, what prompted the project and the single most important outcome they want. Write the objective as a measurable change, such as an increase in enquiries or a successful product launch, not as a list of deliverables.
3.Audience and message
Describe the primary and secondary audiences, what they currently think and do, and what the work must make them think, feel and do. State the single-minded message and the tone of voice in a few words.
4.Deliverables and mandatories
List every deliverable with its size, format and quantity. Record mandatory elements such as existing brand guidelines, logos, legal text, accessibility requirements and any platform specifications.
5.Budget, timing and approvals
State the agreed budget, the number of amendment rounds included, the deadline for each stage and who at the client has authority to approve concept and artwork.
6.Success measures
Agree with the client how the work will be judged after delivery, and record the date for a post-project review.
